High Holidays!Join us in Worship! At Congregation Rebirth, our goal is to be a Biblically based Jewish Community. With this we are drawing near to celebrate the significant Holidays as recorded in the Bible through Faith in Messiah Yeshua. We want to be able to help our community celebrate the Holidays, and we hope that you can join us on this awesome time of Teshuvah (Return/Repentance) and drawing near to the L-rd! Recently, our congregation moved to a new building! While we are excited, we are preparing ourselves for our grand opening taking place October 2nd during Yom Teruah (A.K.A. Feast of Trumpets). Now it is time to reveal our Holiday Services! There are a few Traditional services that surround the High Holidays, and every service we have is free to you! Before the High Holidays is a great Sabbath in which our community goes through a cleansing before we draw near to G-d. During this service, we begin a service called “Selichot” which translates to “forgiveness”. We draw near asking HaShem to forgive us of our sins knowing that He indeed has forgiven through the Sacrifice of His Son Yeshua. Selichot Shabbat: During Selichot, special prayers are recited in preparation for the High-Holidays. During this day, we will meet at our new location for a brief time in prayer at 11am. Following the prayer, we will all go to Wekiwa Springs for our Congregational Mikveh/Immersion. Usually a Mikveh is done before the high holiday season following the prayers of repentance. We will have two opportunities for the mikveh during the high-holiday season. We ask that you bring your own lunch, and an extra change of clothes that you are willing to get wet (including shoes), and a towel. 1. Saturday, September 28, 2024 @ 109 E Crystal Lake Ave #209, Lake Mary, Fl 32746 11am - 12pm; Feast of Trumpets: First Fall High Holiday is Yom Teruah. Yom Teruah means “Day of Sounding [the Shofar]”. While there is so much significance with this holiday, what is important to know is when we will be celebrating it. Biblically, we must come together with our community on this Sabbath Day for the sounding of the trumpets and Holy convocation. Like many celebrations, the Jewish Community created a “Seder” or an “order of service” which we will celebrate on Eve of Rosh Hashanah. Our community Service will be October 2, 2024 7pm-11pm @ 109 E Crystal Lake Ave #209, Lake Mary, Fl 32746 1. Rosh Hashanah Worship Service: Wednesday, October 2, 2024at 7pm @ 109 E Crystal Lake Ave #209, Lake Mary, Fl 32746 Tashlich: Tashlich meaning “to cast” is a service usually done during the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah, but it can be done any day from the first day of Rosh Hashanah until the last day of Sukkot. The purpose of this ceremony is to recognize what is written regarding our sins in Micah 7:18-20, “Who is a God like You pardoning iniquity, overlooking transgression, for the remnant of His heritage? He will not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. He will again have compassion on us. He will subdue our iniquities, and You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.You will extend truth to Jacob, mercy to Abraham, that You swore to our ancestors from the days of old.” During Tashlich, stone or bread is taken to a body of water with fish/life, scripture is read, a moment of reflection is take to recognize the act of G-d in our lives through Messiah knowing that our transgressions have been placed upon Him (our rock, bread of life) who has taken our sin upon Himself; a stone and/or bread is thrown into the water and enters to the depths of the deep/belly of the fish. His forgiveness results in our continued life of freedom, love and hope, whereas sin remains with/in the deep. Day of Atonement: Second Fall High Holiday is Yom Kippur or “Day of Atonement”. The Day of Atonement is a very solemn day where the Bible asks to afflict ourselves, keep a Shabbat, and make Teshuvah/Repentance. On this day, the nation of Israel would receive forgiveness at the service of the Temple Sacrifice. We know that, as there is no sacrifice in the Temple, there is no forgiveness from God except through “His Sacrifice”. His Sacrifice was the giving of His (Yeshua’s) life on the cross as reflected in Isaiah 53. This means we can only find forgiveness in Messiah Yeshua who leads us to repentance or the turning to Him. While we have a renewed hope in Yeshua, we still cry for our Jewish people to be unveiled therefore afflicting ourselves in prayer and fasting joining in the spirit of repentance for the nation of Israel and the world! We observe the day of Atonement for the Salvation of our people, and you can join us for our community service Saturday, October 12, 2024 11am - 11pm @ 109 E Crystal Lake Ave #209, Lake Mary, Fl 32746: Please know that there are many ways people observe Yom Kippur, and we will not ask you to observe a specific way, but we desire that respect is given to others in their observance of this day. During the day of Atonement most communities like ours refrain from eating and drinking, wearing leather, and observe in the synagogue. More religious communities will abstain from all animal products, sit on the floor abstaining from chairs, dress in white garments or sackcloth (many in our community do wear white clothes, but, remember, you do not need to wear all white clothes), refrain from sexual activity and bathing. Lastly, Children and anyone that has medically need(s) restricting them from certain observances are totally exempt from those observances. If you are not fasting food and/or drink, please bring a bagged or boxed meal(s), and you may keep it in your vehicle or hand it to one of our team members who will keep it in the room where you will be able to eat your lunch. Our community will break the fast at around 8pm October 12. If you plan to bring a dish for the break the fast, please bring a closed, boxed, and/or wrapped Kosher Light Dish (for example: soup, salad, bread, vegetables, or white meat). Immersion/Mikveh: All throughout the High holiday season are opportunities for a Mikveh. Some people do the Mikveh on their own time or with the community. In between Yom Kippur and before Sukkot, we have created another opportunity to come together for a Mikveh, and a wonderful time together. This will take place Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Wekiwa Springs @ 1800 Wekiwa Cir, Apopka, FL 32712 11am - 2pm (Bring your own lunch) 1. Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Wekiwa Springs @ 1800 Wekiwa Cir, Apopka, FL 32712 11am - 2pm (Bring change of clothes and your own lunch) Sukkot and Simchat Torah: Third Fall High Holiday is Sukkot. Sukkut means “booths/tabernacles”, this day we commemorate the Lord provision, and celebrate His desire to dwell with us! He is Immanuel “God with us”, and we who choose to dwell with Him are His bride the people under His care. Usually our community takes a day to camp, and in Israel you may see many people camping the night for the week. We will together fulfill the service of the shaking of the Etrog and Lulav, and rejoice in the celebration of the new beginning of life by the re-scrolling of the Torah from Deuteronomy back to Genesis. Our community Celebration will be Wednesday October 16 & 23, 2024 @ 7-11pm, and we will still have our Saturday Service on October 19, 2024 1. Sukkot Community Celebration: P.S. If you are an active person in our local congregation, we do give a Religious Observance Accommodation Letter to give to your work and/or school in order to fully participate in worship with our community. To those that are not active, please email us with the celebrations you plan to attend in our congregation at Info@congregationrebirth.org. |
